Effects of hydrocortisone and adrenaline on natural killer cell activity.
We have studied the effects of hydrocortisone and adrenaline on natural killer (NK) cell activity and on the distribution of circulating lymphocyte subpopulations in 30 patients undergoing elective partial laminectomy under general anaesthesia. The patients were allocated to receive adrenaline (group 1, n = 11), hydrocortisone and adrenaline (group 2, n = 11) or neither hydrocortisone nor adren...
متن کاملOnce a day theophylline; serum concentrations.
Twenty four hour profiles of serum theophylline concentrations were examined in 15 asthmatic children taking a new theophylline preparation once a day. Peak concentrations occurred at a time when nocturnal wheezing is likely. Fluctuation in concentrations throughout the day was greater than with other currently available preparations, but the importance of this has yet to be determined.
متن کاملIgE concentrations in allergic asthma
more allergens showed a higher incidence of raised IgE in serum (52%) than those reacting to only one allergen (23%), whereas only 1 of the 10 children in whom allergy investigation proved negative had raised serum IgE. In children where bronchial asthma was the only atopic disease, the incidence of raised serum IgE was low (14%), whereas high incidences (58-84%) were found when atopic dermatit...
متن کاملEffects of Lactobacillus casei Culture Supernatant on Differentiation of K562 Cell Line
ABSTRACT Background and objective: Considering the toxic side effects of chemotherapy in treatment of cancer, anticancer drugs of natural origin including probiotic Lactobacillus strains have recently attracted a lot of attention. Methods: After culturing chronic myeloid leukemia cell line K562 in 96-well plates, effects of different concentrations of ...
متن کاملCord blood versus age 5 mononuclear cell proliferation on IgE and asthma
BACKGROUND Fetal immune responses following exposure of mothers to allergens during pregnancy may influence the subsequent risk of childhood asthma. However, the association of allergen-induced cord blood mononuclear cell (CBMC) proliferation and cytokine production with later allergic immune responses and asthma has been controversial. Our objective was to compare indoor allergen-induced CBMC ...
